it led me to ponder on how ancient combs are and how well valued they used to be
same! Now I'm relearning how people in the past lived their lives, like what clothes they wore, what tools they used, and how they solved problems when they were sick, and if they didn't use certain things, then I would try to avoid using those, e.g., all skincare or many new inventions.
I actually got my eyes on a handcrafted wooden comb with mirror, so pretty 😂 but the thing I don't like about wooden products is they don't do well with water, and I like to carry the comb to Hamam with me ( Turkish baths ).
And yeah, nopoo made me rethink head scarves too. They're a great physical barrier way of keeping your hair clean (from dust and pollutants and such). I looked up oya (didn't know the word) and yeah wow, it looks beautiful. So you could have a lot of fun there.
Yes, also keeps you warm in the winter! And so handy when you are cooking too, so that the hair doesn't fall into the food:) I love Oya, it can even be added to clothes, something simple but adds so much beauty.
Russian women wear scarves too. At least in the country it is normal.
