It might work in a less ambitious form in North Korea, but California hasn't formally switched to communism yet. Guaranteed jobs equal guaranteed poverty. In short, central planning of an economy doesn't work, even if it's a micro economy.

I agree. They are highly unlikely to fulfill their guarantees in any meaningful sense of the word.
My guess: it falls apart before even launching due to infighting, running out of funds, or political barriers.
Even if it gets off the ground, there's no way it'll be a self sustaining economy. Most likely it will import cheap labor from outside and attract people moving in who actually generate wealth from outside. In other words, just another community for rich people that isn't a self sustaining economy on its own.

Yep. And the guarantees fall apart if the company declared bankruptcy, strategically or otherwise. It will be a municipality. Any "guarantees" regarding taxes are nonsense once additional funds are needed for the "good of the community."

This urban plan is utopian.
10 guarantees:
- Guarantees jobs
- Homes for all …
- Taxpayer guarantee
