Two years ago I talked to my wife's nephew about being bitcoin only and also gave him advice on how to start a fitness coach/trainer business he wanted to start. His dad had wanted him to follow in his footsteps and be a firefighter but he didn't want that life.
He is in his early 20s and he had been trading nfts and shitcoins during the last bull and crash. I thought I got through to him as to why that was stupid and he should focus on working hard, building his business and saving in bitcoin. I even told him if he wanted to start up his business I would give him the capital to get it off the ground (not a ton of money but corporation registration, logo design, basic marketing materials).
He and his GF moved into my father in-laws house after my mother in-law passed away. It was supposed to be a mutually beneficial arrangement, where my father in law who has some chronic health issues would have someone around so he could stay in the home and my wife's nephew and GF would have a place to stay rent free if they were willing to help my father in law out with some cooking, cleaning, take him to run errands etc.
Now today I find out from my wife who is in Texas to help look after her dad after a major surgery, that they need to kick her nephew and his GF out of the house because he has been stealing her dad's money and credit cards and degen gambling on crypto and sports. Sad just sad.
Nothing irritates me more than people who squander good opportunities and the kindness of others to instead make perpetually stupid, selfish decisions.
That's my rant. Don't shitcoin folks.
reply
that's sad...
and even more sad to see how those crypto things ruin the minds of the young - they might keep thinking about how to get rich quick ( fast but at the cost of others' lose ) rather than actually learning real skills and then providing value for others ( the Bitcoin win-win way, slow but solid ).
reply
Yes it is very unfortunate.

Sorry that your father in law and your family have to deal with that. It always sucks when you have to deal with a thief, but so much worse when the thief is someone you care about, someone from the family. It also breaks my heart to see young people take advantage of the trust family members put in them, then goes to abuse that trust by stealing... sigh.
reply
Thanks. Is what it is. Unfortunately without someone staying with him he likely won't be able to stay in his home as it is a bit too much for him to maintain and he really needs someone around to remind him to take his medication and things like that.

I like to think of them more like squirrels for dogs.
You can find yourself chasing them for hours, only for another to pop-up and distract you from the original prize. So many squirrels in the world to pin down, without careful planning 🐿️

My metaphor sucked for this, but the lesson I take is different. Although planning more is a reasonable approach to take. My lesson to not get fixated on some unfruitful thing. You can avoid the sunk cost fallacy by never sinking so much cost you fall into an odd gravity well.

When I post, it's always yesterday's day count, because I post in the morning, during which I have not completed the day's push ups yet, so can't claim to have completed it.
We started on Jan 28, so today should be the 25th day.

Never really been into it, but started swimming in the open sea to start off the day. My own 100 to 100k (100mins in the water).
Only a few days in and it’s doing wonders for my energy & posture.
reply
Swimming is great, swimming in the sea is wonderful.
I participated in my first open sea swimming event last weekend. Swam 1km in the company of more than 400 others. (Out from the beach, around some buoys and then back to the beach.) Planning to go in another event next month which will be a mile (1600m) and then a 2km event the month after.
But meanwhile my regular swimming is in a chlorinated pool. It's a nice pool but the sea is obviously far nicer. So you're indeed lucky if you can swim in the sea every day.
reply
Congrats rockstar. Hope you didn’t get a face full of hands and feet for the event. I have heard from people that do triathlons that competitive swimming can be quite brutal at the start.
I am indeed lucky. But it’s early days to see if I can keep it up.

After a long hard day of work, I took my waste papers and made a detour to the recycling machine near my house. Earned 5 cents that would go towards my son’s college fund.

Running out of the soap that I bought from eastern Turkey, so I cracked two eggs and mixed them with honey to wash my hair, nomad hack of problem-solving! my hair is so soft and shining:)
I think I'm gonna do an experiment of no soap for a while - I've stopped using any shampoo for about two years, and definitely no conditioner, it's insane to put so many chemicals in your body. 🤔
My goal is to find out what's the best for my body instead of being told what I should use...
reply
People forget that the skin absorbs the majority of what we put on it. If it’s not safe to eat it, we probably shouldn’t really apply or use it on our skin.
Think I remember reading some dude doing something similar to stimulate new hair growth and prevent balding. Egg & tallow products for the win.
Know many women can have thinner locks too. So will be interested to hair your progress ;)

Eggs and honey??? That's interesting, I'd love to move away from all the chemical crap in products. Let me know how this goes for you and I might try the same.
reply
I tried egg with honey before, it takes all the dust and oil out but without stripping your natural oil and yet moisturizing your hair at the same time, but maybe due to the change in my diet or environment, it works even better than before:)
I might do an experiment report in one month. 👀
reply
I'll keep eyes on for that report. I might give the eggs and honey thing a try. Cheers Natalia 👊

am I the only one thinks riding a horse is way cooler than driving a car?
you need to have real skills and a fit body to ride horses, yet all you need to do is SIT there when driving a car ; no wonder modern men getting weaker and weaker, even with a beer belly - will Bitcoin fix this? 👀
