Niagara was a French rock band that achieved popularity both in France and Canada in the 1980s and early 1990s. The band, who was known under the name L'Ombre jaune from 1982 to 1984, was formed in Rennes, France by vocalist Muriel Laporte (later known as Muriel Moreno [fr]) and keyboardist Daniel Chenevez [es].Early on, the band also included guitarist José Tamarin, although he left before the release of their first album. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niagara_(band)

Beautiful voice Roll. Great shout, I'd never heard of them before really happy to have been introduced to them.

Great rock sound. Shame they never did an English version as I think the band would have gone down rather well in the UK in the late '80s. I'd have definitely stumped up £8.50 to see them.

French music never went worlwide (or a little) as many countries in the world (and it s not for a lack of artists)
Probably cause of the language, as it s the english language/culture.. has been spread over the world.

I think that's such a shame because of how beautiful it can sound. There's lots of Spanish songs worldwide (but also Spanish is the 2nd most widespread language behind English).
Germans done pretty well globally within certain niches eg. Rammstein.
It is a shame that french music doesn't get the time of day. I mean I don't speak Korean but I know that BlackPink are a worldwide bestseller. In my view, you don't have to speak the language to appreciate the music. Sure there's some nuance and clever lyrics that you may miss by not understanding it. But that's what googles for, go look it up later and then appreciate how clever it was yaknow?

Agree, in their own language they can be huge but still limited to that geographic market. Unfortunately "Big" music isn't going to get behind them for the US, UK, CAN, AUS & NZ markets where there's big bucks to be made, but it has to be in English. Would Abba & Roxette have done as well singing in just Swedish?

i won t say better than that :)
it may also come from the negociation done at the end of the 2nd world war with the Marshall plan to spray in that case American Culture and so English Culture in a way.
