I haven't been playing much recently, but I was playing some XCOM2 on my Steam Deck earlier in the week.
I love XCOM! haven't played it n a long while. the board game chases you!

They're great games! I've never played the board game, but I've spent a huge number of hours on the modern PC games.

I also plazed th old ones and I loved how lcose the new ones are to the old ones in style and mechanics. only that the psychic attacks are way less frustrating in the modern versions, in the old one it was always invisible damage form nowhere...
try the board game! it's not a turn based compat game, it's more a hectic resource management one. but it's great, you lose a LOT.

I've never actually finished any of the older ones, but I have played them! They were definitely a bit harder than the modern ones, at least for me.
I may have to try the board game, is it completely tied to the app?

yes, the app chases you through the game, gives you countdowns to place resources and places UFOs
