Whenever possible, I do this when I go on vacation. The amazing thing is that I've had situations where the landlord didn't want to do it privately, but I respected that, of course.
they always ask how they can sell it back to fiat, and then I would just say why would you even want to sell the best money?! The goal is to use them directly like what I'm doing now. But okay, I'm fine showing them how to exchange with fiat too, they are free to do whatever they want with their money after all...
The important thing is for people to know what they are doing and to be aware of it. Hiding or deceiving is not good, neither for you nor for Bitcoin.

yes, I met a few too, but most of them were in Europe. 👀 I was amazed by how funny it is because they got benefits too when doing it in private! why someone would say no to such mutually beneficial approach?

I believe this type of behavior has a lot to do with cultural factors. In Latin Europe, you still find many people who prefer to go the private route, I would say it's about 50/50. I'm not sure about Eastern Europe, but my perception is that they tend to prefer to do it privately as well. However, if you go to Northern Europe, you will find a culture where 90% want to comply with the government's law. The key word here is RESPECT for each individual's decision.

I said it's one of the main reasons, and it's not just because of cultural factors. The government governs, but the people decide whether or not to comply. It's that simple.
