In this longitudinal cohort study, performing chores in early elementary school was associated with later development of self-competence, prosocial behavior, and self-efficacy.
My little boy always feels so happy and proud when he puts away all his stuff by himself. He loves doing the dishes too.
I'd rather often do it myself though, when I'm in a perceived hurry. Which is often. Good reminder not to do it for him.
How do other parents here deal with this?
Thanks for the forward xP
The conclusion I got was: every child should do household chores to fulfill his responsibilities as a member of the family. But it’s okay to pay him some money for undertaking a task that you normally outsource to and pay someone else. I gained clarity from Stackers’ answers haha.
Usually my son will claim that he doesn’t know how to put his toys away. I will say let’s do it together; he will usually copy me 😜
