I know they make cardboard that is waxed, not 100% waterproof, but better than normal cardboard.

You could try using some water-proof spray. I know there's also fire-proof sprays and paints, but not sure if it makes sense. At certain temperature it will burn anyway

Really practical hobby. Imagine it’s way way quicker to iterate on prototype designs with cardboard. But didn’t know this was a thing beyond that.

My mind instantly goes to thinking central planners would have us build entire homes out of cardboard if they could pull it off 😅

Silly question though - is there such a thing as water/fire-resistant cardboard?
