The BitAxe is a fully open-source ASIC Bitcoin miner.
- They have sold more than 2500 devices
- They pioneered the first pool with net negative fees
- They have a strong community, primarily on Discord and Twitter
- Currently testing six ASIC chips working in parallel on a single device.
Here's a German podcast that delves into the topic:

I have to get mine cranked up again.
The common mistake people make when thinking about these little miners is profitability and feasibility.
The Bitax project is really about developing open source firmware for miners. Just as it is important to have open source software and firmware in other parts of bitcoin, it is very important for mining. When you buy the hardware (from the sources that support the work) you are encouraging this work.
I recently received mine and fired it up. Hats off to the team. It was simple to set up and is hashing away to a solo pool. I'm really excited about where mining could be in a few years. A lot can change and access to open source firmware could make an impact on the pleb space as well as the commercial mining operations.
When mentioning the use of 6 chips in parallel, it's common for people to overestimate its impact. Understanding the design of closed-source market ASIC machines, like the Antminer S21 with its three hash boards, is key. Each hash board contains 108 ASIC chips, resulting in a total of 324 chips. This brings power consumption into consideration.

In my opinion, it's all about the cost per unit of hashing power, and they rank quite well in this aspect. The future will tell where this leads us.
Indeed
I’ll be selling these on Kaboomracks website soon
I love the pleb miner skull on the board

Catnip for geeks.
If the price be around $100 - it's a great nerd gift
