The incentives for "going after us" are all wrong in the first place imo. The US has a lot more to gain by adopting bitcoin than fighting against it. If they try to adopt via confiscated, the result will be civil unrest and likely the downfall of the country. It's an 

 weakening move to go after your own citizens on a large scale. Way too much to lose. Way more to gain by playing along.
