Every day now I’m seeing more and more alarming stories out of China on Twitter.
It seems notoriously difficult to get an accurate picture of exactly what is going on, but the bad headlines are definitely piling up.
Are you concerned about China’s economy? If so, what data/info sources are you trusting to assess their economic activity (or lack thereof)?
Contrary to all the narratives I heard growing up about population growth and overpopulation, China's population is projected to be HALF of what it is today in the year 2100. (Source: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/world-population-2100-country/)
1.4+ billion to a mere 700 billion, mostly older people is a recipe for disaster. It seems that the return to communist principles isn't serving the country well.
However, one factor that China has in its favor is nuclear power. All the nuclear plants that they have spent years developing and building will provide them electricity at HALF the cost as compared to the USA within a couple of decades. This implies to me that China's economy will shift increasingly towards using machines and AI, rather than humans, for manufacturing and labor.
I hope the West can keep up with the nuclear energy race. Interesting times ahead.

looks like SN has a bug, the final underscore doesn’t appear as part of your Twitter link… it sends me to an account with no followers.
The real account looks interesting, thanks!

I do not trust anything coming out of China. I do not have anyone I know I can trust with information on China either.

China is a large county. I am sure some places are doing very well and others not so much. No different than Twitter focusing on the smash in grabs in CA but other places in USA are doing just fine

I am concerned. It always hits the innocent the hardest. And hopefully the regime does not try to demonstrate strength to the outside now.
