In his recent State of the Union speech, President Biden called out private enterprise for what he calls “shrinkflation” and “greedflation.”
I have otherwise reasonably intelligent friends who think big US corporations are raising prices to intentionally destroy Biden's reelection chances.

I love how big corporations are having secret meetings about this.

I hadn't heard this one yet. It's pretty hilarious to think these corporations want to oust Biden, who's been nothing but a corporate shill his entire career.

it's so cringe! how can anyone fall for this BS? Damn right Americans are tired of being played for suckers! And always the freakin "icecream" references! He's makes me sick

Coal miners?

I have my doubts about their "intelligence" when I point out matter-of-factly (and politely I might add) what the true cause of inflation is and then they block me from seeing their social media posts, so I can't speak truth and correct inaccuracies. True intelligence would be to have in the humility and open-mindedness to admit that what you have believed your whole life in incorrect.

It's a cult and cults have strong ideological defense mechanisms.

New York Times is a corporation. Have they raised subscription fees to hurt Biden?
I am guessing your friends have never run a small business, managing payroll, dealing with wholesalers and vendors, customer service and complaints, business permits and fees, paying taxes quarterly, etc.
reply
Wait, is government saying central banks have no effects on inflation? What do they even do then?
reply
Paul Krugman has claimed this when it's politically convenient. I'm not sure if he's done it recently, though.
It's more like they're trying to have it both ways: we need the FED to manage inflation, but when inflation is out of control it's greedy capitalists' fault.
reply
Exactly. First rule of government is always blame someone else.

all it takes is a compliant left-wing scumbag press to sell the story of the greedy entrepreneur to the mob
