It's another way to push not only the adoption, but to make those extreme hodlers to move their ass and start spending some sats and create that dam,n bitcoin circular economy.

Severe weakness to this in that most retail invoices only last 60 minutes.

No is not "severe". those merchants can always use a LNURL or Lightning Address and now also we have AMP invoices on LND
