First Picks

The first round of the NBA Playoff Survivor Pool will actually be correctly selecting a team to win its final regular season game.
Teams play their final games this weekend. The playoff standings are still up in the air, which might make this selection difficult. I'll send out a reminder on Friday, but feel free to get your picks in now.
So, who do you like to win their final game of the season? (bearing in mind that you can only pick each team once)

Contest Details

Here's the first post with the contest rules: #488380. The contest is open to all, so spread the word if you think someone else might be interested.
One thing to add is that rather than being disqualified if you don't get a pick in, you'll be assigned whoever has the worst odds. You will however be disqualified from tie-breakers. Aren't I just extremely generous?

Victory Pot

Currently, the pot is at 2609 sats. Any sats zapped to this post or to my comments go into the pot.

Coming Up

Next week is going to have pretty quick turnarounds with the Play-in Tournaments.

Well, that was a quick elimination for me.
reply
The Cavs took out almost half the pool.
If no one survives the play-in, we can just start a new survivor pool.

Pacers

Ok, I'll get it in the books as soon as I create the books.
The end of Spurs/Nuggets is wild.
reply
Sunday is going to be wild.

Denver lost on an inbounding 5 second violation!
Atlanta almost beat Minnesota and Memphis almost beat the Lakers. Pretty wild games. today.
reply
The Knicks also nearly lost to the Nets.
reply
This was unexpected. Am I eliminated when my pick loses because the game doesn't matter or do I get a mulligan?
reply
It's still single elimination. The Nuggets are playing the Grizzlies. That seems pretty safe.
reply
When is the first pick deadline? I need to see what the standings look like going into the last couple games and who this game matters to.
reply
I'll take picks up until the game or series begins. The picture should be pretty clear by the time I send the reminder.
I'm looking at 76ers, Knicks, Heat, Pacers, and Cavs. It's going to depend on how the bracket looks at that point.
reply
Ok I will get a pick in by Saturday.
reply
Then I can't use the Nuggets in the playoffs. Even though they aren't going to win the championship because the field is winning the bet. I would still like to be able to use them.
reply
I may have made these first three rounds too difficult. Hopefully some of us survive to the actual playoffs.
reply
Kings seem like the most viable option at this point provided they will be playing either for 6th or to stay out of 9th. However, I will hold off until closer to final game to make the pick.
reply
It's tricky finding a team who you don't want to save for later.

That's why I am thinking Kings if it lines up right that their last game against Portland matters. I don't mind not having them for the playoffs.
reply
Even if that game doesn't matter, Portland's awful.
