@thebitcoinbugle is going to have to step up its game if it wants to keep up with everyone's favourite Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.

Headline: PM's six-day Indo-Pacific trip cost $2M, including $200K in catering

TLDR: Trudeau took a 6 day trip last summer with his 15 year old son and a bunch of cronies to Indonesia, Singapore, and India to "strengthen ties" and "work with international partners to tackle 'crises and challenges' including inflation, and food and energy insecurity." Trip cost 2M including 200k for inflight catering.

Oh clown world, you never disappoint

How quaint

reply

2M ain't what it used to be but I can't stop laughing at the "work with international partners to tackle 'crises and challenges' including inflation, and food and energy insecurity." part.

You gotta spend money to save money as they say. Wait that's not how it goes.

For some reason the frivolity that came to mind for me was the time Michelle Obama wanted to go shopping, so they shut down an enormous swath of NYC near the store and of course had an entire imperial legion escorting her.

I have no idea what the price tag was on that, but the opportunity cost of shutting down NYC for an afternoon would probably hit the billions.

Why don't people realize how insane it all is? I feel like I am the crazy one for seeing how nuts it is.

reply

You know what is insane?
The amount politicians make...and their benefits.
Usually they are lifetime benefits!

reply

It’s also incredible how people who make 200k a year can suddenly be worth 20M or 200M.

If I remember correctly, Mark Cuban did something weird and rolled money into his IRA. Everything will be tax free.
I wonder if anyone had the foresight to do that with bitcoin before it went to the moon?

lol bitcoin does that to people

reply

Partisanship is a helluva drug.

reply

Why else do you think governments are so in debt?
Its easy spending money thats not yours!

reply

He's an impressive guy. The only way to defeat him thru compliance

reply

You have to give the guy credit. I can't think of another Canadian PM in my lifetime who was as well known in the US. Even when his mom was cheating on his dad with all of Hollywood and Mick Jagger the fervor was nothing like this. He is despised from sea to shining sea.

reply

I would prefer we go back to a PM no one knows or cares about.

reply

Trudeau not only outbuglez but he aspires to become a stand up comedian after this tenure.

reply

It's way less for a PM! In fact he is so frugal that there must not be any complain.

He is very popular everywhere and he has good sense of belly. I wonder if he smokes! Because in 2M it's not possible. For the information it's not a great amount for a PM's food, he has his family too on the tour.

I know he wanted to curb these expenses but he couldn't because nobody in SE Asia invited him to dinner.

He made a baby face when he returned home.

reply

Thats just one of the perks of the job.
Unless we have some oversight, it wont get better and politicians will keep taking and taking.
