In my Nostr feed I saw Cory Doctorow reposting a post with this video (I'm following his Mastodon profile via Mostr). https://piped.r4fo.com/watch?feature=shared&v=wVYG1mu8Lg8
It somewhat relates to my yesterday posted #503110, my personal statement we are entering an era of subscription fatique and #503531 by @StillStackinAfterAllTheseYears.
I don't know this guy, but his take on enshitification, pricing tiers, subscriptions, BigTech and dark pattern designs is pretty good! He really nailed it when he showed how 'easy' it is to cancel a Playstation Plus subscription.. It also looks he has quite a big audience. So to me, this is another sign of the long ago started trend to pivot away from the big tech monopolies. But there still a long road ahead..
His possible solutions are a start, but I think most of us here are way more steps ahead with better solutions.

We have to keep our freedom, on all fronts.

Is it really enshitification though or just people thought unsustainable business models are the norm? Many of these tech companies were subsidising their services at the sake of growth and remained alive because we were in a low interest rate environment so they could continue to get funding and promise profitablity in the long run
Now that we have higher interest rates and these companies have matured to a point where they're expected to make a profit, its reflecting in the pricing and the walling off of resources that cost them money to provide to the market
