So it's been a month since I founded alter_native. It's time for me to pay up to renew this territory. I started it as an experiment and I wasn't sure what the long term plan was. I feel different all the time. Some times I really like having it. Other times it feels like it is just extra pressure to contribute here on stacker. I feel torn. On one hand, it is super cool to set the tone in a territory and I really appreciate the support I have got on here. Thanks to @Undisciplined, @matusalem, @8lock8, @beneboo, @Coinsreporter, @IamSINGLE for your participation and kind words. On the other hand, I could just as easily post on stacker to other groups. I really value my sats. And this point, it is just an exoemse. I have a small mining operation that brings me about 20,000 sats a day. And soon that will be less with the halvening. This is my only real income right now. Not sure if it feels worth it to keep it going. What do you all think. Is it worth keeping this thing going?

I’ve enjoyed reading the posts in your territory. SN is still relatively small and @k00b and team weren’t expecting the surprise bull market at the same time as territories were introduced. This community will continue to grow and may become more viable.

I guess we can't see the future and that is the challenge. Thanks

I personally really enjoy this territory and it's nice to have an alternative space to post in. although you need to do what is best for you.
reply
I guess I am wondering if there is actually anything that sets this territory apart. Does it offer value?
reply
I feel like it does, but it might take a little time for several neat territories to differentiate themselves.
I'm still feeling out how to decide between posting in your territory, ~mostly_harmless, ~FiresidePhilosophy, and ~culture. I think each could be distinct, especially if SN grows appreciably.
If you do keep it, I'll try to keep ~alter_native more top of mind when I'm considering where to post relevant stuff.
reply
I feel like a lot of what I want to share would fit with ~firesidephilosophy pretty well.
reply
I guess you could let that chump pay the 100k, then.
reply
Yeah. Is it just my ego that wants to have a territory? It feels like it might be redundant. It would be cool if we could split territories some how. I guess it could happen unofficially.
reply
I think shared territories are on the horizon.

If it's financially stressful, I recommend letting it archive. You'll always be able to create a new one in the future if you want.
reply
Maybe. I feel like I could enjoy it just as much here.
reply
Actually you already have your answer. You are just concerned that not making available this territory would disappoint some Stackers out there. I would say, take care of your needs first. There’s no point in providing a service if you feel you are burning your end too much. We all understand your dilemma.
Personally I confess that I won’t miss your territory as much as I did for ~AI & ~Japan. Hope this makes your decision easier haha
reply
I don't feel like I am burning my end too much. I really enjoy it here. I think I am just a little disappointed In myself for not contributing more. And I still have work to do around seeking validation. I appreciate the feedback. Lots to consider.
reply
Sorry if I came across as presumptuous haha.
Do you know why you feel overwhelmed when it comes to penning down the big things on your mind?
reply
I think it really comes down to being lazy. I want quick results. And these ideas deserve more than that. I have like 5 word documents open on my laptop. I just need to be patient and keep chipping away.
reply
Why not choose the most expendable idea of these five, give yourself a time limit to jot down as many thoughts as you can about it n just press publish at the end of it? I did so with this this morning: #508434. Remember, all writing is a work in progress. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good - you can always revise your work n post a better version. What’s not doing justice to your ideas is not letting them see the light of day at all

Thank you. This is helpful.

I appreciate the value of the publications on this channel, it is good to have a somewhat neutral territory from all the purely technical things about bitcoin, and it is good to have an alternative to express other topics and concerns, but I do not know how maintaining a territory works. So from my perspective as a participant I love it, and I will try to use the alter_native more... And as an additional piece of information you must measure whether it is a bad stress, or one that perhaps you could channel so that it is not harmful to you.
reply
Thank you. I appreciate the encouragement. I really want this to be a place for free thought. Some days I feel really excited about it. Some days when I feel down, I feel like it isn't worth it. It's tricky.
reply
I think the territory fees should gradually increase starting from anywhere like 10k to 20k sats and reaching 100k in about 3 to 6 months. @k00b @ek @kr
This way a stacker who starts a territory can have more time to establish its worth.
And in this way it won't be financially stressful.
reply
That is an interesting idea.
