Consumerism, appealing to materialistic desires, shortened attention spans, shitcoins… the list goes on.
The consequences of fiat culture have been increasing obvious to us and many of our peers. I’m not writing this to complain about the new current “problem” that’s to occupy our limited brain power. The goal of this post is to get you thinking about how important your role as an individual is and how vital it is to dispel the fiat culture in your own circles.
The death of fiat culture is coming, and we have front row seats. Although it’s quite impossible to eliminate ideals such as consumerism completely, we as individuals have a responsibility to instill better values in our families and friend groups. I’m not saying consumerism is bad, but there’s definitely a healthy balance that we’ve strayed far from.
So what am I implying we do? Be more toxic? Tell the people around us that fiat is evil? Tell them to have fun staying poor? Sure you can go on twitter and tell shitcoiners off but I’m talking about your friends and family here. We are no different than the people we hate if we express these negative attitudes. Bitcoiners are to be looked up to. We must stay humble. We must guide our fellow pre-coiners towards a brighter future.
This doesn’t mean shoving bitcoin in their face. By always being positive, by showing confidence, by always putting your best foot forward and most importantly, staying humble as fuck. This is how we infect the fiat culture. By providing hope to the people around us. Maybe if they’re interested in learning, you can guide them. But like Darthcoin says, pick your pupils wisely.
I do appreciate the many different approaches you guys all have to building a better culture around bitcoin. I only covered one strategy of infecting culture, and I’d love to hear how you inspire the people around you.
I personally just strive to lead by example and through my own actions. I get this inspiration from my dad who rarely if ever tells me what to do but instead lives his life fully and as a result I have taken massive inspiration from his example, no words needed.
When I first got into Bitcoin and started seeing and understanding all of the things all Bitcoiners realize with fiat shenanigans, I wanted nothing more than to tell everyone about it and wake everyone around up from the fiat matrix. But then I quickly realized that such an approach does not work well since it is extremely difficult to change others, especially just through being overly excited and annoying about Bitcoin this, Bitcoin that.
So nowadays, I put all of my energy into bettering myself and living in a manner in which if I were to see myself from the eyes of someone else I would think to myself, "Wow I want to be like that guy!". Just as my dad through the way in which he lives his life has inspired me to aspire to be half as cool as him.
Always lead by example and others will gradually begin to follow and take inspiration from your humble and truthful actions.

And even if others don’t recognize or take after you, at least you have the respect of the people around you. The insecure and the ignorant tend to push people away.

at work i chatted up a receptionist that has more free time than most, showed her Bitcoin and the Beast, US debt clock, explained how fake money works.
other co-workers get short sermons about beef and raw milk, grounding, sunshine. some days i talk about environmental toxicity, forever chemicals, and weather modification.
people are making some positive differences in their lives. i am feeling the vibes slowly shift toward something very exciting and uncertain.
some bitcoiners hold sats because they are expecting SHTF. others hold sats, use sats and talk about sats non-stop because the future is bright - in fact, i would not accept an alternative anymore.

What are some examples of this shift you’re talking about? I am mostly surrounded by doomers who are only prepping for the internet to go out. I don’t experience the same vibe shift- I only get hope from other bitcoiners.

people are generally interested in traveling, camping, organic produce, fitness and sports.
when internet and lights go out, my friends and i will probably go camping with hunting and gathering. of course the big cities will be awful to live in, but the free world will be within very close reach.
preparing for camping IS preparing for lights to go out, but IS ALSO preparing to spend time with cool people in the pretty nature.
