The mempool filters do not seem to amount to much this time. Solving the problem at the consensus level may be preferred from the security standpoint of lightning network users. A nice fork would be good for the price in the long run as lower transaction fees would allow entry of new participants. A fork would also scare and wash out many computer-illiterate statists. A little purge is what me need. Be it soft or hard, but preferably hard. If the spammers want to gamble, let them gamble big time when the fork comes.

I'm not a fan of knee-jerk reactions. But something will need to be done about this at some point.
We've tried the "wait it out" strategy. They just come up with new ways to spam the chain
