The lobby for people to be fat and sick is much better funded than the one for people to be healthy.

Tis why we need to stop calling it health care and instead call it sick care.
When people are fat and sick and depressed they are subservient. That and they become a cash cow. Can't make money off people illness if they're not ill. I don't think it's coincidence that there's more money to be made in long term illness management than there is in a cure.
