As much as current news pains me, it also makes me incredibly happy that bitcoin exist. 

I was "awake" in 2008 and those were frankly much darker days. Although we didn't use the term "CBDC" back then, it was widely assumed their only answer was to institute some sort of global fiat currency. 

At that time, we had no escape hatch to deal with this except for the crude use of gold/silver (which I was a stacker). The arrival of bitcoin has truly given us an alternate plan.

No, I think this is simply the way empires die.

At first the rules are just 'tweaked' slightly in favor of the ruling class, and as they keep getting away without consequence, they become more and more extreme.
