I dont think it is flopping. More ev producers are out there now. They have more competition. Just like gm and ford. They had to slow down because of other competiton, some folded amd some stayed.

But generally SpaceX is still accepted. So it's him to a certain degree (and he absolutely brings that on), but also how the company is run and what it accomplishes.

At a big wrestling PPV event this weekend, two of the bigger heels (bad guys) in the org drove up in a Cybertruck, and every got it as a symbol of how douchey they were.
Regardless of anything else, it's become the symbol of something embarrassing.

I don't think it's failing either, all companies go through ups and downs, maybe it's a transitional stage, competition has also increased in recent years.
