Dick Greaser here. I am currently endeavoring on learning about different attacks and stumbled across the term Sybil Attack. I'm not really understanding the relevance of how something like this could be used to create a social attack on users of different platforms.
I was curious what you stackers think of this and if you could explain it to me. Helpful explanations will be rewarded with zaps.
Sybil Attack is an assault where one entity illegitimately assumes multiple identities. This is akin to a single person casting multiple votes in an election by pretending to be many different voters. In the digital realm, this can undermine the network's integrity by allowing an attacker to exert a disproportionate influence. A real-life example of a Sybil attack can be observed in the realm of social media platforms, where it's not uncommon to see entities creating multiple fake accounts to manipulate opinions or trends.

We have some "entities" like that even on SN.

How does one launch a Sybil Defense and what are the threat vectors for compliant Bitcoiners?
