Put yourself in the position of a clueless salvadoran. Most of them do not know about the existence of other ways to use Bitcoin other than Chivo.
Is not about how to use Bitcoin with other apps, we already know that.
is about leaking personal information (this is why KYC is bad) and use that against the people.
You are right, but do you know the statistics? I guess most of the people use Chivo just for small payments but then stack sats onchain.
I know that filtering the information of people is bad, but what can they find out? The payment of coffee and bread and things like that. And what do you need the information of poor people for? Are you going to their houses to rob them?
Bigger companies like Sony got much worse exposure and nothing happened to the world.
Anyway, the centralization of the Chivo wallet was something we were warning about for years. I'm sure most Salvadorenians used it for small amounts only.

Again, nobody gives a shit what people buy with their sats.
Is about USING those stolen identities for other stuff.
What if somebody stole your KYC data and use it to post stuff or take money from a bank or much worse case scenarios, even came to your house and demand you BTC?
Identity theft is a real danger nowadays because you can do a lot of bad things with it.
