Hello, Stacker News community! I'm Texas Slim the modern-day cattleman deeply rooted in the traditions of cattle country here in West Texas. I'm here to chat about the hurdles and solutions in accessing local, sustainably raised beef. Despite the abundance of cattle around us, the centralized processing controlled by a few big corporations makes it tough for small farms to get their beef to your plate. Let's dive into why supporting local beef is crucial for health, community, and the environment, and discuss how we can overcome these challenges together. Looking forward to your questions and thoughts!

I've heard that it's possible to produce commercial gas from cattle manure. Is that true?

There are ways that you can turn bio waste in bio fuel. There are existing and new technology innovations that are available and that TBI is considering to adopt. Turning Cow Shit into a valid form of energy will be something you see in the future.

What is something actionable we can do to decentralize ranching across the US? Obviously buying direct from ranchers but it seems like there could be more we could do?
reply
Do you think ranchers across the US get what is being done to them?

Do you still feel the impact covid 19 on beef industry? What measures have you taken to curb down the effects?
reply
The impact of Covid identified and clarified that are national food distribution and supply are heavily dependent on global aggregated supply chains that have many fail points. A lot of awareness came out of that.
At this time I feel like many Americans have already forget the food shortages that was caused by supply chain line disruption. This will happen again and those who have adopted a decentralized approach to gaining market access to their food supply are the ones who will secure their access moving forward.

If you had to pick one entity, who stands most in the way of direct to consumer farming? Is it corporations? Governments? Consumers?
reply
The 4 multi-national corporations that control 85% of processing in the US. They are the bottleneck to giving #MarketAccess to consumers and they impede our ranchers and producers to be able to take their product to market and to the consumers that would like to serve.

any plans for expansion to Canada? there's some good Bitcoin folks up here interested in what you're doing who are also raising cattle.
reply
We would love to be in Canada and are waiting for producers/ranchers & bitcoiners to reach out. We are an opensource collaboration and we serve those who choose to step and lead. We have the proof of work and the algorithm of success. We operate in the full vertical integration each day within TBI. info@beefinitiative.com

How long do I have to live in Texas before I've earned the right to wear a cowboy hat?
reply
You have to first break in your cowboy boots. Once you have scuffed up some leather, you can design your style and crease of your own style of cowboy hat. No cowboy boots are to be worn without first breaking in your boots. Yeehaw!

One of my favorite things about the beef initiative is that bitcoin and farming seem, on the surface, worlds apart.
What makes them great companions?
reply
The first thing I saw when I began to create the algorithm of beef and bitcoin was the store of value. We have stolen the store of value of both the cow and the land through our fiat debt-ridden economy. Bitcoin brings back the store of value that the rancher/producer does not have access to nor can they exit the debt economy until they first pioneer into both beef and bitcoin at the same time. They are a full working unit. One piece of low-hanging fruit that is a value add in the immediate is eliminating CC fees for the producers who are going to market to their consumer base.

What's special about beef in your view?
reply
From the beginning of time, societies have honored the cow. Beef is the most nutritionally based product on the planet. Our fiat system has eliminated this fact from consumers' and society's mindsets. It is a way that they can control the masses by engineering nutritionally weak food. Beef should be protected and every person on the planet should have market access to it.
