You might want to try journaling.
I think it helps a lot.
I enjoy making my own notebooks, too.
The Japanese style binding is so easy to do, but you have to get all the pages oriented right if you dont cut the pages at the end.
Also, it gives your kids a chance to see what you were thinking in the past, when you are gone. Not to sound morbid or anything.
I kinda treat SN as my journal. Haha.
I’m the type who needs people to read my stuff if I write. Private journals don’t work for me.

But I m getting started on writing a gratitude journal on Obsidian. Just 1-2 lines every day. I’m doing it to see if it will reveal hidden patterns in my thinking and make me more proficient at Markdown.
