I mean at the time and even now I think with how absolute insane Putin is if he takes something of yours... what can you do? Back then he was a pretty solid ally of the West as well. Dangerous and crazy yes but he still was a pretty solid ally

Yeah read it in the article after the fact. Didn’t see the link at first. I am sitting by the lake waiting for my daughter to finish her dance class and it’s very sunny. Hard to read the small mobile screen. Thanks for the explanation though.

Honest to God I dont blame Kraft lol... You are in Russia with Putin who we knew was a little crazy at the time and he just pockets your ring... I think the government made a ring for him to replace the one that was "gifted".

Kraft got a replacement one I doubt the Bush Admin paid for it directly but probably did something like invited him to some event that would easily have cost more
