If Germany didn’t send a blank check to Austria Hungary and Austria did not declare war on Serbia, First World War could have been avoided. Bolshevik revolution would not have succeeded. No Lawrence of Arabia. No Balfour declaration. No Sykes Picot agreement.

Their reporting shows that Ukraine is not an independent democracy but a client state of America which has pushed Ukraine into ever-deepening conflict with Russia.
I hold exactly the same view about America and its relationship with Ukraine and Israel. They both aren't independent nations but they serve as the 2 far off territories under US rule. One is sitting their for Russia and one for the Middle East.

Israel can survive without military aid from USA.
Israel is a liberal democracy unlike Ukraine.
Men are not fleeing Israel like in Ukraine.

Great article, but I didn't understand what healthy cognitive dissonance is.
Their reporting also reveals the tangled complexity of human affairs requires a healthy amount of cognitive dissonance.

I think it means that to accept the mainstream narrative causes you to hold inconsistent beliefs that creates inner tension. Obvious example- Russia invading Crimea-bad. Israel invading Gaza- good. The word healthy in this context means a substantial amount, not beneficial.
