Hello!
We're excited to use stacker.news as the main community site for OpenAgents.
Next week we're launching our Agent Store, an AI agent marketplace using bitcoin, lightning and nostr.
We've been building toward this for six months as documented in 90 videos on X. Our code is 100% open-source and you can read a summary of our codebases here.
We'll start directing our users and new folks here over the coming days. Many of them are new bitcoiners or not-yet-bitcoiners, so we'll appreciate any help getting them acquainted with bitcoin and stacker.news. Looks like the SN FAQ is a good place to start.
In the meantime feel free to AMA :)

Congratulations on the territory and good luck with your project!

Welcome! SN map is now bigger :)

Kudos for integrating SN into your Bitcoin centric business model, setting up a territory, and building the community. Looks like a win win to me. And other entrepreneurs should take note.
Scanning the market for agents I see diverse categories like:
  • Smart assistants
  • Chatbots
  • Recommendation systems
  • Language translation
  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Medical diagnosis
  • Fraud detection
  • Virtual private tutoring/training
  • Smart home devices
And so on.
Are all of these categories expected to be represented? Or are you focusing on a specific niche?

For now our only customer-facing UI is a ChatGPT-style LLM chat interface so the initial agents should be ones that work well for chat and where retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) is helpful. For example a chat agent specializing in a newer version of a code library where a standard LLM’s training data would be outdated.
Where we differ from OpenAI is the time we spent building support for developer extensibility, enabling developers to write agent plugins that upgrade agents with custom functionality. This is badly documented now at https://openagents.com/docs and will be explained better in our new docs next week.
The general idea is that any developer who sees opportunity to extend the functionality of OpenAgents into a new market should earn rev-share on anything that enables that new functionality, whether at the level of an individual agent, or a plugin or capability shared by multiple agents, or a system-wide integration added to our core codebase. A lot of those details we’ll need to figure out ad-hoc and build systems for over time.
That’s a long way of saying we expect to see OpenAgents encompassing all of the above and more.
If I had a predict a major theme for new agent functionality in the short term, I’d say we’ll see a lot of focus on automating code generation like what you start to see with Devin/OpenDevin. Partly because we want to use codegen agents ourselves!
One thing we hope to see in this SN community is discussion between potential buyers and creators of agents. Our core development efforts will focus on building any missing primitives or integrations needed to enable agent builders to satisfy market demand identified here.
Agents “that actually work” are still largely uncharted territory and will need some community discovery to build the market.
What is the story behind the name 'openagents'? Will you please reflect a bit?

Before focusing on agents six months ago we were trying to build a Lightning-powered GPU compute marketplace called GPUtopia. We had some success and attracted hundreds of sellers, but couldn't find customers comfortable getting GPU compute from a relatively unstable source when they could get it more easily from standard providers. The 'GPU supply crunch' of ~9 months ago has largely been alleviated, and we didn't want to participate in a race to the bottom competing against compute providers subsidized by massive investment.
We first began "Open Agents" as a video series immediately after OpenAI's dev day in Nov 2023. That was episode 1 of what became our 90-video series - worth hearing more of the story there: https://twitter.com/OpenAgentsInc/status/1721942435125715086
The .com and Delaware C corp for OpenAgents were both available so we pivoted to that - and now we are all in on open agents: specifically an open platform and marketplace for agents using bitcoin, lightning and nostr.
More on that Monday!

I'm getting more interest now. How is openagents, I mean is that also some kind of stacking sats like SN?
reply
This is the overall direction we're aiming for: revenue shared programmatically split between any contributors to agentic workflows
We'll have a basic version of that live next week

Thanks for reply and I'm looking forward to it. Best of luck.

Many congratulations, best of luck for your territory.
What's your motivation for opening a territory for your site on SN?
reply
We need a place for our agent builders & customers to coordinate, ask questions, make feature & agent requests etc.
We had a Discord months ago and it got overrun with crypto people and bots.
We're already paying sats to people for building agents, so the same idea here for content makes a lot of sense.

Thanks I like the idea. I am interested.
