TIL "terimah kasih" is "thank you" in Indonesian, the literal translation of which is "to accept love" and I think that's just unbelievably cute
There are a few other Indonesian etymologies I really like:
Orangutan (one of the few words English borrowed) Orang=person hutan=Forest. Person of the forest.
Matahari = Sun, Mata=eye. Hari=Day. Eye of the day.
