A couple of thoughts:
  1. A LOT of Bitcoin lovers talk about it with a zeal that borders on religious. That's not something that makes for a good first date conversation.
  2. A LOT of Bitcoin lovers hyperfocus on it to the extent of not having a lot of other demonstrable interests. If your date is with someone who's not into BTC, you need to find some other common interests. Books, movies, sports, food, something. If you've got nothing in common, there's nothing to build on there.
  3. Worse, so many girls have been on dates with guys who essentially try to orange pill them immediately or who can't talk about anything but BTC. So even if you're well-read, funny, and charming, mentioning BTC too early is a great way to throw up a red flag because of those other guys.
(Disclaimer: I'm an old married guy, so this is mostly observations from somewhat afar, though I've worked with and spent time talking with enough much younger people to feel that there's something to go on.)

I think you hit the nail on the head. Basically, don’t be obsessed and try to jam it down the other person’s throat
reply
Often they lump "Bitcoiners", "crypto bros" and "NFT guys" to the same group and obviously they've had bad experiences with the latter 2 groups..
reply
That was one of my thoughts as well. Those who haven't gone down the rabbithole probably think "crypto" and BTC is the same thing.
reply
To tack on, people who have a savior complex are insufferable, regardless of the panacea they offer. If you only have one interest, chances are you're not living a balanced life.
reply
Obviously I can't talk for other Bitcoiners, but if anything I have too many interests 😅
reply
Good on you! Yea it's definitely a show, don't tell thing. If Bitcoin truly improves your life, it should be obvious from the way you live.

I've heard a lot of stories where date dumps lovers because he/she wants an immediate pleasure.
Bitcoin gives you freedom and if someone, be that your love, wants to put you in shakles or boundations, instantly fuck them off

Why do some people (especially women) continue to trust governments in the face of all the atrocities they are committing?
Honestly a simple answer: Incentives.
You don't see it because you've been targeted to pay for those incentives, so you just see the lying and negative aspects. But for the people they're bribing for votes....they are much more willing to "give the benefit of the doubt" towards the govt.

Women, unlike Bitcoin, are not fungible.

I don't know, maybe it's not about their opinion on bitcoin or fiat currencies... Maybe it's about them wanting to talk about other topics.
reply
It's not like Bitcoiners can't talk about anything else lol

Regarding trusting the government there is still a weird brainwashing effect present in society despite all the atrocities. Some call it ‘wetiko’ or mind virus.
I dunno but I have conversations with people and as soon as certain topics come up - i.e. covid, money, geoengineering etc, their eyes glaze over and they’re not hearing me. 🤷‍♂️
reply
Very true. I've met girls who absolutely get the COVID scam, but somehow still think the education system, monetary system, etc. are somehow honest and real.

Sorry to heard about it.
I feel very lucky because my wife is as bitcoiner as me.
Hope you find someone special soon.
reply
It's not like I'm particularly sad or worried about it. But I find it curious and don't really understand the cause or how widespread this kind of experience is. Hence the topic. Was your wife a bitcoiner before you two met? How did you meet? If you don't mind sharing some details :)
reply
We met many years ago, while we were studying.
We were already married when we came across with Bitcoin and we got the Orange Pill together.
She became more interested on the fundamental part and I got more involved with the "how to" part.

  1. No idea, I'm married. 😅
  2. I suspect women are more likely to be dependent on the government than men.

Oopsie. Message posted in the wrong thread. 🤭

Don’t tell them about your coin too soon. (But you will need to eventually, as a good relationship is built on honesty). If you give up the game too soon, you will attract the bad kind, that only wants you for your resources. These people will take take take until you have nothing left.
A good relationship is a partnership, in which you mutually improve each others lives.
