In many schools around the country, students deal with both physical and emotional aggression each day such that school becomes more about surviving than thriving.

I have been surprised recently at how many new homeschool families are popping up around us. I am not sure if this is just a town thing vs city thing or something broader. We were definitely seen as weird in the city, especially in the area we lived where a lot of people had nannies for their kids. But it definitely does feel like the mainstream view on homeschooling is starting to change.

Does Canada have onerous regulations on homeschooling?

Not really. We just need to register with the local school board every year and say we are homeschooling and at certain grade levels (I think my son needs to do one soon). They have to take a test at the school to verify they are at the level you say they are. I am not sure this is actually mandatory but it definitely helps for when they want to apply to universities.
