Looking for a preferably FOSS alternative to Umbrel. Fairly tech savvy but not a shadowy super coder. Looking for easy plug and play. Already have Umbrel on a pi so I am looking to just install an alternative on it.

Raspiblitz also has a migration option from Umbrel if you decide to go that way, FYI.

I went with a Raspiblitz and it was pretty easy to set up and get up and running.
The only downside to me was that it comes prepackaged with a lot of stuff and a lot of configuration options pre-set for you. That's good for plug and play, but I found that because LN is still not a fully mature ecosystem, I ended up wanting to do a lot more customization of my own. Raspiblitz isn't great for that because everything is set up for you out of the box. Currently I'm in the process of building a new node from the ground up, just waiting for some components to arrive.

My recommendation is to stay away from Umbrel and Citadel and just go the Raspiblitz route. You will learn A LOT more and in the end have something you'll be proud of and won't want to change to another platform. If you go with easy route (Umbrel/Citadel), you will learn some but in the end will probably want to do it all over and go with something like Raspiblitz but by then it will be more annoying to do the migration assuming you have channels.

Before start running a public routing node, you should ask yourself, WHY and HOW? Read more here: https://darthcoin.substack.com/p/recommendations-for-ln-users

I'm interested in your insight for those of you who have used these things before.
