I have a bone to pick. To all of you parents out there. Have you let your kids watch Daniel Tiger on PBS? Do you feel there is a lot of brainwashing and mind control in that tv show? I know it is based from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.
reply
What are your thoughts on it?
I’m not a parent, but I know my dad didn’t let me watch Mr. Rogers because he thought he was weird and creepy.
I’ve watched some Mr. Rogers and it’s my impression that he overemphasized emotional regulation.
You gotta go with your gut about what your kids watch.
reply
I feel it is very brainwashy. My older brother sings the songs to get the kids to do what he wants. Its weird.

I don’t want to be unpleasant as it is a big country.
But some general truths I found are that in Istanbul no one admits from being from Istanbul…
…and tea is so sweet you can feel your teeth rattling in your head..
…and no European wants to go to a Turkish bath house as its considered ‘unmanly’. And then you have your first massage, you feel amazing and then want to go back every other day!

Not adding sugar is the way! even with the coffee, sade sade sade:)

I always tell friends is a MUST, it's sooooo good! but don't go to the touristy ones in istanbul. 👀

In the market for a good automatic espresso machine. Something that does the grind and the brew. Not one of those Kcup machines. Beans in, espresso out.
Anyone have one of these machines you love?
reply
Used to be a coffee machine salesman. Don't buy the fully automatic ones, they're crap IMO. They don't do a "real" espresso. These Breville machines are a fair price/quality ratio for home use:
reply
Are the Breville's the fully automatic ones you say to avoid? Or are you saying you recommend them? Thanks.
reply
Breville is what I recommend. It's not fully automatic, you still have to manually fill and use the portafilter. The ones that are "press one button and you're done" i.e. the JURA machines, are what you should avoid.
reply
Thanks so much. Have you seen the Terra Kaffe machines? Friend has this one.
reply
No problem! No I'm not familiar with this particular brand.
reply
me low tech - no machines, only a copper coffee pot ( cezve ) to make Turkish coffee, so handy! and you can easily travel around with it.
reply
Yeah, I'm low tech now. Have been for years but considering getting more automatic after using a friend's system in his office.
reply
or maybe learning to make more healthier drinks other than coffee? 🙊
I'm once again cleaning up my belongings - the things you own end up owning you, really! now I feel free to do whatever again after getting rid of many unpractical things.
reply
Coffee is pretty healthy TBH (AFAIK, I'm certainly no nutritional expert), provided you don't add sugar or syrups or other BS in it. You can even upgrade your coffee w/ butter & MCT oil :)
reply
one of the benefits I noticed is it helps you to poop 👀

True, that's a good and cheap option as well! As is a moka pot.

Just saw a moka the other day. Forgot about it until now.

How in the hell could a man enjoy being awakened at 6:30 a.m. by an alarm clock, leap out of bed, dress, force-feed, shit, piss, brush teeth and hair, and fight traffic to get to a place where essentially you made lots of money for somebody else and were asked to be grateful for the opportunity to do so?

Presenting Your Licence

This may seem innocent enough, but when you are asked to hand over your “driver’s licence” by a police officer, you have just handed over all your rights and lost your status.
To understand this, we must realise what is actually going on.
First, the word “Traffic” or trafficking is a legal term used in commerce to transport goods from one place to another. It only applies to a business who has agreed with legislation.
The title “Driver” is referring to an occupation, and if you accept this legal title, then you are considered to be working for the state and are now subject to all the traffic codes, legislation and licencing required.
The word “Vehicle” refers to a tool of the trade; an object used while you are working as a driver under commerce.
With the simple act of handing over your driver’s licence when requested by a police officer means you have entered into a contract with the police officer and have accepted all the traffic codes.
This is clearly deceptive and therefore fraudulent, as to have a lawful and legally binding contract, there has to be full disclosure before consent.

So you can refuse to present your driver's license once they ask for it?
