Most of the old, classic, independent bookstores are gone. I used to spend hours hunting the used books/ remainders sections. Here's an all time favorite: https://www.strandbooks.com/
Here's a link to my favorite old washington DC bookstore, which is still going strong: https://www.secondstorybooks.com/

That's cool!
In the age of Kindle, it's a place for immense self exploration. I love offline book stores and libraries and often visit them in search of some real stuff. Books, these days, in libraries are like panting and pleading whenever they see a visitor much in the hope of shedding some age old dust out of them.
Here are a few images of an old Indian library

I haven't been to a bookstore in years but I used to enjoy them a lot. I read a while back that BN got a new CEO who really gets it and turned the place around.

Nice post!
Being a teacher of literature, my love for these book stores and libraries is ever increasing. I'm a frequent visitor to some of these in my locality. But I must say that none of these stores in India match the book stores from the European and North American and Japanesse Book stores.
