Doubling every year would put us at 20,000+ by that time frame.
But then again, crazy things could happen in the wider world that would accelerate adoption, such as collapsing fiat currencies. As well as new use cases like stablecoins and who knows what else.

If BTC price goes up relative to USD, then LN can facilitate more payments without an increase in BTC capacity.

But I consider this not the right question to ask.
The right question is: will my LN payment will have same fee and speed of today?
Only few will understand this question and why.
