"The State" is an organization of people. There are people who truly want to serve others, and there are people who want to consolidate power for themselves. It is too black and white to say that "the State" wants to enslave you, although there is a grain of truth to this. When the fire department comes to put out a fire at your house, or the police come to stop a crime, or the Army to repel an invasion, that is the State at work. There are indeed deep issues with the power the State has consolidated and it is not always benevolent as my above examples. But there are people who want to serve benevolently that work for the State. I am conflicted in this position, but I think it is too nuanced and complex to make a blanket statement like yours.
