Not really a surprise. Due to corruption (ie. SEC), Americans can't participate in these investments. Not having access to the largest capital markets is obviously very limiting.

Bitfinex is the biggest scam ever happened in Bitcoin history. Very few knows that is even bigger scam than Mt.Gox.
