I live in California so my vote for Trump won’t matter
In reality I think votes for president and to a lesser extent congress are fairly meaningless.
The best justification for voting is local races: sheriff, judges, city council, school board. Those races have an out-sized effect on your day-to-day life. They are all 'boring', but you get actual tangible benefits from researching those candidates.
My local sheriff (Texas) proved this during Covid, he published a letter saying "dont call me to enforce any lockdown complaints or mask violations, as I wont be sending deputies out to enforce these things....we are busy dealing with actual crimes..."
It doesn't matter what rules those in DC pass if no one locally is willing to enforce them.
District Attorney is also an important local election
Soros funded district attorney are making life in cities worse and unsafe.
I agree about local elections and their impact on your life , mundane or otherwise
The one federal law that has made a large impact, a deleterious impact, has been Obama care. Health care is more expensive and unaffordable than ever. Obama made healthcare worse in every possible way. The system was already broken and Barry exacerbated it.
Other examples similar to Obama care: social security, Medicare, Medicaid, public housing especially section 8, aid to families with dependent children or AFDC , federal gun control act 1968
But I digress. Local elections matter more than federal.
What about state government? More or less important than local?
State elections are more important than federal for your day to day life and affairs.
Already made it! I’m in Ohio, so it only took a few days. I don’t think, after he won that court case in Utah, that there was any reason to doubt he’d be on the ballot in all 50 states.
Jill Stein and Cornel West check the grown-up box, but I disagree with them on way too many policy issues. They’re actually both much closer to Trump and Biden on the stuff I value than they are to Kennedy. Also, I don’t think they have any shot at winning.
They all have the same damaging economic policy just for different things. Every single candidate wants more government power so I can’t vote for any of them in good faith.
While it is true trump would be more beneficial to my personal economic situation it has always been a principle of mine to vote against any form of command economics. Yes this may be stupid but I decided a long time ago the only candidate I would vote for is one that demonstrates they would deregulate the economy. Socialism will always be sexier to the general population in a “democratic” state with the right rhetoric, so it will be the one that wins irregardless of how harmful it is.
