Keep posting good content and engaging with the community. Zapping other people’s content plays a big role in it too.
I think 9000 is the most rewards I have gotten in a day aside from when we did the Satsraiser last year.

Okay, so 9000 from rewards and you also earn for good content. That means the maximum a person can stack daily depends on engagement levels?

I second @grayruby's advice. Thoughtful comments and zapping good content are the way up the leaderboard.
I've gotten to where I pretty regularly come in towards the top and my posts rarely have much to do with it.

Yes, I can slightly agree but your zapping ans commenting is very respected as I've seen.
For posts, you are there among top tens in top post and that post is also about zapping..

Every so often, I have post that does pretty well, but most days I don't even make it on the top post page. It doesn't effect my leaderboard standing very much, though.
I also think commenting and zapping are the more fun parts, but that's obviously personal taste.

Yes if you create a popular post you will get a lot of zaps plus rewards if it becomes one of the top posts.
