I don't usually celebrate the summer solstice, but I know that many cultures do. Let us know if you do and how.

Are you my neighbor, is it not celebrated in Portugal? or is it that you don't like to celebrate it? I used to celebrate it, but now it's a holiday that I don't pay attention to, in Spain it's normal to celebrate it as Itermathi says below.

Congratulations on the victory over Italy, Spain was unstoppable.
In Portugal, the summer solstice is not celebrated and it is not a national holiday. It is likely that some people may celebrate it, but it is not a cultural tradition. Instead, this month there are two major popular festivals: Santo António in Lisbon and São João in Porto. These are municipal holidays and are the two largest popular festivals in the country.

Thank you! It was a good game for Spain, but we should have won by more difference, many wasted opportunities.
I understand, I didn't know about those festivals, are they religious festivals?

Spain should have scored more, for sure. They hit the post a few times and the Italian goalkeeper made some great saves.
Roughly speaking, they are popular festivals in honor of the saints.

In spain we celebrate the summer solstice with a campfire at night. People dance, drink and jump over the fire.

No celebration at all in my country. While we boast the highest diversity in our land, this event leaves us with no choice than to stay inside. It's scorching hot and also too humid outside.
I live in the foothills of the great Himalyas on the banks of India's largest river with more than 70% covering of forests in and around 200 sq/km, the temperature has remained above 40 consistently in last 1 month or so.

Dude, climb these mountains to stay cooler. 40 degrees is nuts....wow
How do you stay cool and I mean practically? Dig a big hole in the ground and stay there for months? lol

I've climbed up the mountains twice within the last 30 days.
It's sometimes even 45 degrees. Today is a little respite, though it's still 40° C, due to late night showers.
We do have basement in our house which is cooler than everywhere else. In the afternoons, we stay put there.

In east Africa we don't have specific seasons. The sun is always overhead

I often think it would be much cooler to go back to celebrating holidays like this instead of artificial Mom's day or Pap's day. We need to get back to our roots.
