Is it still usable for small amounts of money for people that don't want to run their own node?

It's OK to play around, but I really do not like that it REQUIRE google services to be installed. So I pass... I have installed only wallet apps directly from github repos. You have many other options nowadays...

I use ZBD, in my plan is withdraw bitcoins from this wallet by fixedfloat or other no kyc methode to my cold wallet btc.

I use ZBD for small amounts
On mutiny you can join a federation in lieu of opening a channel but maybe that is more complicated for a novice
Wallet of Satoshi was a great beginner wallet
