I always try to use as much is possible the MPP (multi-path payment).
It helps not only for better payment privacy but also better liquidity, better fees.

I also do not open direct channels with usual destinations, except cases when I know and trust the peer. For example: a local bar owner with a direct channel to my node(s), and pay using keysend sometimes.

If you want to increase payment privacy add more hops.
