Two bad defeats have haunted India in the past two editions of the T20 World Cup campaigns. The first was the 10-wicket loss at the hands of Pakistan in the league encounter in Dubai 2021. One year later, they suffered another 10-wicket defeat, this time at the hands of England, at the Adelaide Oval, in 2022. We're at it again, another T20 semi-final encounter and it's once against Jos Buttler's England. It's been raining around in Guyana, but it's clear for now and that adds another dimension to the contest.
We do not have a reserve day for this game, but we do have an extra 250 minutes allocated to complete the game. If rain does play spoilsport, India will earn the rights to play South Africa in the finals on Sunday, having topped their group in the Super Eights. Unlike the league games, we will need to have at least 10 overs completed in both innings to constitute a game. It could be a long day in Georgetown, it could be a long evening in the United Kingdom and it could be a long night in India, but we could be in for a thrill-a-minute action packed encounter between two hot favourites going into the tournament.
Welcome to second semi-final of World cup T20.....

Toss Update:
England have won the toss and have opted to field
(Each of India’s five defeats in ICC tournaments since 2021 have come while batting first.)
Teams:
India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma(c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah
England (Playing XI): Philip Salt, Jos Buttler(w/c), Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley
Pitch and Conditions:
Humidity - 72%, wind is expected to be 12km/hr. Dimensions - 69m and 70m square, straight - 79m. This pitch looks very dry, looks cracked and the cracks are quite solid and not moving around. I expect this pitch to be quite low and skiddy, particularly for the spinners. I don't think we'll see the kind of bounce or uneven bounce that we saw in Trinidad for the first semifinal in Trinidad. The average score batting first in a day game is about 167. A low skiddy pitch which tends to favour the spinners.
