I haven't been there in 30 years. I spent a few hot summer days there back in the day. Once, after a debauched all night gambling session, we went outside and it was snowing. I thought I was hallucinating.

It’s been about 10 years since the last time I went. My wife’s brother is a firefighter in Vegas and he works the strip. He has seen some shit.

I bet he has. I really think it's underrated as a weird place. I went there a lot when I lived in LA. Good stories, and a few not so good stories.

You lived in LA? I had no idea.

reply

Yes. For four years in my early 20s. A long time ago.

Did you get out to any Dodgers games.

I have been to LA at least 10 times but I have never gone to Dodgers stadium. Definitely on my stadium bucket list. Just never seemed to line up when I was there. I have been to all the other California ballparks.

Oh yes. I was out there in 85, when the Mets were getting very good. Gooden in his prime. I went by myself to the first game of a Dodgers Mets series, and sat next to an old guy from NY. He had extra tickets to the next two games, but didn't have a car. He gave me the extra ticket in exchange for driving him to the games. We had a blast. I do recall the Mets took two of three. I already told you my Anaheim Angels game around that time and the Reggie Jackson incident.

That’s awesome. I keep telling my wife the next time we head out to LA we need to plan it around a Dodgers home stretch.

Truthfully besides the Dodgers game I have no desire to go to LA. I am much more fond of SoCal and San Diego than LA but my wife still has some extended family and friends in LA area she would like to visit.

I lived in Hermosa Beach for a while. That was a really nice beach town, although I haven't been there in 35 years. One place I miss in downtown LA- The Pantry Restaurant. 9th and Figueroa. I still remember the address . Great breakfast place. Other than that, I don't miss LA.
