I’m surprised at how many empty seats there are for such a big cricketing event. If they didn’t sell out they should have given free tickets away to local schools, better to have a full house rather than empty seats on tv.
It has been a disaster of a tournament to organise it in the States & WI to be really honest with you. Grounds, pitches, atmosphere, conditions and difference in timezones have ruined the whole tournament. If it weren’t for the huge Indian population around the globe, stadiums would’ve been empty.

I can agree for USA pitches not for hosting there. USA was choosen to co-host because ICC wants to add some more Cricket playing nations. Carebbians has to be the venue. Cricket is very popular there as well. It can't always be Indian Subcontinent.
I’m a big fan of trying to grow the game around the world but you can’t just rely on Indian fans to bring the atmosphere. I think that as it’s every 2 years the t20 tournament should alternate between test playing countries & associate nations but it needs to have the right structures in place. No good building grounds for a tournament for example

I’m all for exhibition matches or normal T20 matches of top teams but not tournament of such stature. Caribbean is alright but US is a NO for me for the time being.
reply
The problem is exhibitions don’t grow the game. Maybe something like the IPL could spend a week somewhere outside of India to encourage new participation. IPL have been in Dubai before during Indian elections so why not have a week in the USA and other associate nations?

Or maybe organise a tournament with top 2 teams from each T20 League. IPL PSL Big Bash 100 etc
reply
That’s a great idea!

Also is the case that it's played in the early morning there, so as to accomodate time zone differences.
I can only confirm you that at least 800 million people alone in India are watching it live...

That stand is undergoing some maintenance.
reply
Not sure why they would pick a venue that needs maintenance. But more generally there seem to be empty seats dotted around the ground
