pull down to refresh

I've been traveling in Europe recently, and buying lots of groceries in stores (trying to stay mostly carnivore, difficult while traveling).
The Nutri-score system that they have here for foods is insane. The system goes from A to E, A is best and E is worst. They've rigged the scoring so that unaltered, traditional foods (cheese, whole-fat milk, meat, eggs) get a low score, like D or E .
(this is not my picture, but in my recollection, ALL of the beef gets an "E")
But then of course every vegan food, expensive and with 30 ingredients, gets an A because it has low saturated fat, and lots of fiber, and they've added soybean flour.
It's a horrible system, and seems to be designed - I'm sure it is - to benefit the huge processed food corporations. All their products get an A, or at most a B. Even things like chips (crisps) can get an A or a B if they do a few things like make them "lower fat", or have soy protein added. I've seen chocolate flavored sugary cereals get an "A" - presumably because they put a little soybean flour in for protein, and have some whole grains in them.
I know this system is coming out in the US as well, but it seems very widespread here.
They're advising the EXACT OPPOSITE of what (in my opinion, as a carnivore) we should be eating. We should be eating more whole foods, more meat and eggs and less packaged, highly processed foods.
And because people still pay attention to these nonsense scores, their health will continue to decline.
FYI - here's a more detailed explanation of the Nutri-score system from what looks like a company that consults in this area: https://www.eurofins.de/food-analysis/other-services/nutri-score/
Everyone is different and looks for different things. For example, those on keto and low-carb diets like myself actually welcome fats, albeit specific ones. I also prefer animal proteins (meat, eggs) to plant ones. There can't be one score that fits everyone.
What I'd like to see is an open source system where I can scan a label on a product and my phone translates it through my personal "nutri-matrix" and outputs my personalized score for that product.

Everyone indeed has different nutritional needs but not to the extent that most people think. The issue is that the human body is capable of running on such a wide range of food before you run into issues that it's difficult to determine what is optimal for most people just by asking them.
I'm in the "eat what our ancestors ate for thousands of years" camp, we are all to a greater extent optimized for that diet.

Depends on what's in it, and what amounts of it. I've personally never had an issue with the system, and I find it helpful as a general guideline while shopping.

Nobody had any problem with it because nobody cares about that system. But when the scores are linked to a CBDC and payments are refused because you did not buy the right foods, then people will start realizing what a digital euro was all about

It's because everybody missunderstands what the nutriscore is.
People think it means "is it healthy" which is not what it does. It is a measure of the chemical composition compared to its category. Chocolate cereal gets measured against other chocolate cereal.
It's an idiotic and bad metric. But it is not "rigged" like OP or you are theorizing

In that case it's been designed to misled people on purpose, as the label doesn't include any category name.
reply
Yes! I see these kinds of scores on these kinds of food and think... How could anyone believe in this system?

Well, you are somewhat right, here they are trying to stop us from consuming so much meat, and in supermarkets in certain countries, they are introducing packs of insects for consumption, I would not be surprised if the meat score is put as "E" on purpose.
reply
Yeah for sure they're pushing vegan products and very down on animal products. For instance, at recent ice cream place I visited, about a third of the ice creams were labeled as vegan.

Most sorbets are vegans, just fruits, it is just idiotic marketing we don't have to fall for it

Sorbet is a popular dessert in a Kosher diet

I don't think these scores are doing any good for people's health. Instead they are misleading people to believe that A is better than E. There must be an explanation on every packet or every shelf about what do these grades actually mean.
Products with a NutriScore value of -1 or below receive an A grade, while those with a value between 0 and 2 are classified as B. Products scoring between 3 and 10 receive a C grade, whereas those scoring 11 to 18 are assigned a D grade. Finally, products with a NutriScore value above 19 receive an E grade

Why do people still trust the government? Everything they do turns out a disaster. Anyone who takes health advice from a government agency is an idiot and deserves what they get.

According to the website:
The labelling system was developed by independent scientists and has been in use in France since 2017.
Also, the labeling system is based on an algorithm.
It would be unwise to believe those "scientists" were genuinely independent, or that an algorithm can dictate something as complex as the human diet.
reply
Don't eat anything with a label you'll be healthy and the government can eat its own cooking

let me guess ... this Nutri-score will be somehow connected to the CBDC slave system?
