Again another guide NOT mentioning a single word about RUNNING YOUR OWN MUTINY SERVER misleading clueless users. When people will understand that this is a very important aspect ? How many times I have to warn about this?

Unfortunately, I can't help you with that. I don't use Mutiny yet, I'm still working with Alby and Boltz. They're very easy to use and I've never had any problems. @TonyGiorgio, @benthecarman or @DarthCoin might be able to help you with that.

I was able to swap to lightning from federation today

That only works if you already have a channel, I don't. I can't open one either because my on-chain balance is too low (you need at least 100k to open a channel).

Surprisingly, transactions to the on-chain address go directly to the federation, I'm not sure why it works that way, so I'm stuck!

With the latest patch mutiny allows you to withdraw from the federation to an on-chain address but it still doesn't work. When you enter the amount and press the button to confirm, nothing happens. I've tried on two different devices without success...

Looks like it's already been said here but it's best to just withdraw on chain from the federation
