I was just driving to a place earlier.
I had to take the highway.
There were three people stopped on the side of the road.
Two were stopped by police, and one was just using their flasher lights on the side.
But in all of these cases, traffic slowed down so they could see what was happening.
Three times this happened!
Dont americans have anything better to do that look at other peoples business?

Look into the science of road congestion and traffic bottlenecks. It only takes one person to break to create miles of traffic...
Ask yourself, even though you didn't want to look at those 3 people, you had the opportunity to do so, right? That's the case for all the other people in traffic with you. All because one person at the beginning hit the brakes...

All it takes is one or two people to do it.
The problem is that when this happens multiple times on the same highway, it gets congested very quickly.
Rarely do I look, I have to manage my transmission most of the time.
Its a lot harder in traffic with a manual transmission.

How do you mean, you have to manage your transmission?
Isn't that like muscle memory at some point? Or do you have to consciously think about it? Just curious.

Not when you are in traffic like that.
Especially with people weaving to get a better look, or to get into a faster lane, or to get into the turn lane.
People here drive crazy.
And its not just the transmission, half the time its managing the clutch.

Of course there are more important ones, but this is human nature, “curiosity.”

Curiosity is okay, but half of the time it is none of their business.
Its not like they are pulling over to help.

Exactly, people nowadays don't offer help in anything, and this is the reason for the decline of humanity. There should be civility in interactions, compassion, and a lack of cruelty, but we only see this in movies and stories.

If it is late at night, I will pull over and ask if they need help.
Usually it is someone that needs to change their tire but doesnt know how to do it.

Yes, it is true, and there are cases when a person is afraid of this person who needs help

Or the person you are trying to help is a bit afraid.
