Interesting, but a very misleading title. These are median home prices, which literally means 50% of homes are cheaper than those prices. They should have reported something like the 5th percentile of home prices.
Good observations as always. Using the percentile seems more correct to me too. As I've always said, we need to be careful when reading the data because of what you mention.
